Warm weather calls for a new wardrobe—new colours, new silhouettes and new patterns. At Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013, designers introduced a fresh spark to the looks for the season embracing new trends and giving a summery spin to ongoing trends.
Here are the key trends spotted by 911 Fashion at LFW:
Bold, neon colours
Bold colours are hot this season, especially neons. From colour-blocked neon dresses to fluorescent embellishments and accents, neon green and yellow dominated the runway.
What fascinates you—the circus, marine life or the abstract? All of them made an appearance in traditional and digital forms, making for an exotic print mix.
Surface texturing got an upgrade this season with designers using sophisticated techniques such as cording, 3D appliqué and embossing for interesting looks.
Delicate tulle, lacey net fabric, and dull prints with a hint of embellishments gave vintage lovers a wonderful variety of looks to admire.
Staying true to the resort-themed fashion week, old favourites and new resort wear designers showcased resort wear in a range of colours and prints for the urban woman.
Lines of all kinds created shapes that made for interesting optical illusions on the runway. The illusions appeared on flowing georgettes, shiny satin and staid muslins in a variety of silhouettes.
Quirky cool for men
Menswear got a quirky spin with unconventional styling, mixing retro, vintage and sporty accents with contemporary pieces and accessories.
